The Poet’s Corner - Going outside every once in a while

Welcome to the poet’s corner! This week I would like to talk about one strange but important thing.

Very simple, but it’s important to go outside every now and then. “Hey Ryan but there’s a freaken’ pandemic and we shouldn’t go out!” And you are right!

???

???

Wait. Don’t light the pitchforks! What I mean is to not stay shut in your room like a mad scientist. It’s important to get out and ‘smell the roses’ as they say. “But why?” I’m pretty sure there is some psychological reason as to why, but as a writer I would say its important to remind yourself that there is a real, living world out there. As writers we are often so caught up in our writing, that we forget everything we come up with is inspired in, a smaller or larger, in the real world. So it can help look at things from an angle you can’t get inside your room.

So in short, it provides a breather (literally) and helps remind you of the source of your writing. So, for those who can, write or read in your backyard, balcony or at a local park (respecting social distancing and wearing a face mask). You won’t regret it!

And now this week’s poem:

The Neighbor’s Garden

On top of the wall of bricks,

I sit as life passes by,

The dogs legs the ground kicks,

What a gorgeous life.

Thanks for reading.

I wish you the best, see you next week!
